Now for a really serious look ( from here in Fly-over country ) at the unbelievable position the Democrats have put themselves in or better yet ..... hmmmm....how to put this.....the monster they have sold their soul to.
Well let's first take a brief look at their seeming metamorphisis ( man huge word for just the second blog) since 2003...and I think you will see how this has grown into something I believe is out of their control.
In 2002 the Dems had to go on record as supporting military action in Iraq...and heck maybe their heads were in the right place thinking we had to do this...but you knew they did it begrudgingly. So now we couldn't say they don't support the troops....or the mission for that matter because they were saying how aweful Saddam was back then too..... in fact here was

Man...did he really say that?.....yep he did! Okay, so I know you can easily say " yeah but that is John F Kerry professional ambulance chasing senator" but..you need to play this out...stay with me.
Well here was the problem Kerry found himself in later in the primaries...the Deaniacs were clobbering him with the "no war for oil" crap and he sensed that he would not get his chance at being president without the Democrats emerging new base. So he started using slight of hand techniques and contorted himself into the candidate who now...kinda...sorta opposed...well I guess it was the right thing to do...but....I can make sure we win the right way...with global support...yeah that's the ticket!..oh and GW Sucks!
So when Kerry " reported for duty" at the convention you could feel the tension in the room. The Democrats new they could not win the election being all out anti-war so they endorsed Kerry because they hoped he could win with a half-this ,half-that ....and well darnit GW sucks campaign. It was actually staggering to watch. The whole party must have become masters at the game of Twister. Because their positon on the entire conflict was so ....well....conflicted/contorted that they had to keep up with what their message was to make sure it came out somewhat coherant..but the jist was ...um...in the end GW sucks!!
After the election of 2004 they decided at first that they needed to connect with the " religious " segment of society. Well I don't have time to laugh myself silly..so...but anyway they did not persue that...instead they decided to court and FOSTER even more anti-war stuff. Try to make this conflict as much like the days of 'Nam as possible to drag down that darn Bush that everyone will vote for just about anyone but Bush.
Now here we are at the 2006 mid-term and the Democrats are full-blown antiwar. Heck now John F Kerry gives a speech stating he was wrong to vote for the war. ( my goodness thank the lord above for Ohio) Hillary Clinton gets booed for saying Democrats need to have a serious conversation about Iraq. The problem is...there will be no reason now. They stoked this anti-war movement. They courted this DailyKos tantrum. In fact they now have to " eat one of their own" because he has the audacity to stay consistant. ( Leiberman) Now they don't know what to do. You are either anti-war and hate GW or you are literally dead from these guys.
I look at it this way....imagine all the democrats sitting in one big smoke filled room looking at each other woefully wondering how they can beat the Republicans in the next election cycle. Well there just happened to be a snake-oil salesman in the room who says " I have something that might do the trick ...but I have to warn you ...this little guy is very dangerous and deadly..use in small doses!" Well the democrats felt they had no choice so they used it... and they OD'd.
